In ancient times, long ere the dawn, A man named Job, in faith was drawn, To serve his Lord, both day and night, A story old, of truth and light. In land of Uz, where he did dwell, His piety, no words could tell, With riches vast, and family dear, His life was full, no pain, nor fear. But in the courts of Heaven high, A challenge came, a devil's lie, "Take all he has," the accuser said, "His faith in you, will then be shed." The Lord, he knew the heart of man, The strength of Job, his steadfast plan, "Go forth and test him," God replied, "But harm him not, lest faith be tried." And so began the trials dire, His wealth, his kin, all lost to fire, His body wracked, his spirit weak, Yet Job, to God, would never speak. In dust and ash, he sat alone, His friends appeared, their hearts of stone, They sought to blame, to cast him down, But in his faith, he did not drown. Oh, Job, dear man of righteous ways, You never wavered, through dark days, Your faith, so pure, remained untorn, In midst of trials, you were reborn. Then, from the whirlwind, God did speak, His voice like thunder, words unique, He showed His might, His wisdom great, And humbled Job, in love, not hate. "Who questions I, who formed the skies, Who set the stars, who hears the cries, I am the Lord, Creator true, My ways are just, beyond your view." With head bowed low, Job wept and prayed, In awe of God, his heart displayed, The Lord, so moved, his trials ceased, His wealth restored, his pain released. Oh, let us learn from Job of old, To keep the faith, through trials untold, In darkest times, when all seems lost, Our hearts to God, we firmly trust. For in the end, the story's clear, The Lord, our God, is ever near, Through suffering, we'll come to see, His love and grace, eternally.
